Current Amounts

These dollar amounts are subject to change by the SSA and through legislation. Below are the current amounts for:

SSI Federal Payment Standard

(previously Federal Benefit Rate (FBR))

Federal Payment Standard Rate Beginning January 1, 2013

Individual: $710.00
Couple: $1,066.00

VTR - 1/3 Reduction Rate for 2013:

Couple: $355.33 (Adjusted FBR=$698.67)

PMV - 2013

Individual: $256.66
Couple: 375.33

Current Break Even Point (BEP) 2013

The current BEP for a person receiving SSI for earned income only is $1,505.00. To compute the BEP for an SSI recipient with only earned income, multiply the current FBR by 2 and add the general and earned income exclusions. $710.00 x 2 = 1420.00 + $20.00+ $65.00=$1505.00.

To compute the BEP for an SSI recipient who also has unearned income (SSDI, CDB, or DWB), add the countable unearned income and the countable earned income. The person reaches the BEP when this amount is over the current FBR.
