G

G.E.D. - General Equivalency Diploma - An alternative to a high school diploma for anyone who dropped out or did not finish high school. It is given as a test, not a class, and is based on the things a person should learn in high school.

H

Hallucinations - seeing, hearing, touching, etc. of things that are not objectively present. This includes hearing voices, seeing visions, or feeling a touch. Although hallucinations are part of many illnesses, there are also times when they are considered normal or common: when falling asleep, during religious experiences, or occasionally hearing someone call your name, for example. Contrast this with Delusions, which are misunderstandings of things that are objectively present.

Holland Codes - John Holland, a career development specialist, has created a system to classify people's personalities to match them to various job categories. These codes reflect what job a person might enjoy doing.

Home Health Care Agency - a company that provides in-home assistance for anyone needing help, generally because of a medical condition. This help can range from simple cleaning and cooking to medical needs. Often the agency is paid by private insurance or Medicaid/Medicare.

HUD Forms - The U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development will help pay the rent of qualified low income people with disabilities. For more details, follow the HUD link on the Federal Departments Links page.
